Tulemar Vacation Homes in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, is ranked the #1 resort in the area on TripAdvisor. One of the features that makes this vacation spot so special are the daily wildlife sightings throughout the grounds. Guest enjoy viewing monkeys, sloths, toucans, iguanas, frogs, and other animals in their natural habitat at the 33-acre pro-wildlife conservation resort. On December 14th, Tulemar will join with a local animal rescue center in the celebration of Monkey Day.
December 14th was declared Monkey Day in the year 2000 and has been recognized internationally ever since. In celebration of the various types of monkeys found at the resort, Tulemar Vacations Homes is supporting a local event on December 14th of this year that will be hosted by the Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR), a non-profit wildlife sanctuary in the area.
“We are lucky to have three types of monkeys live on the property here at Tulemar,” comments Dave Houck, representative for Tulemar Vacation Homes. “It is a common sight around here to watch a monkey troop pass by the office or play in the trees around the property.”
After spotting monkeys all around the hotel property, guests at Tulemar Vacation Homes often opt to take a tour of the rescue center facilities at KSTR, where staff are dedicated to helping educate both tourists and locals alike about the unique jungle wildlife that is found in the area.
In honor of Monkey Day this year, KSTR is offering tours at 8:30 am, 11:30 am, and 1:30 pm at the special rate of $15 USD per person. All monies collected will go towards the ongoing operation costs of the rescue center. Holiday activities geared towards children and refreshments will also be provided.
“Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR) is a life-saver to many animals in our area,” says Houck. “They have installed over 130 monkey bridges over busy roads in the area and take in injured and rescued animals in need of care. They care for the animals here in the rainforest year-round and we are thankful for the work they do.”
“Since they’re such a common site to see here at Tulemar, we invite everyone to join the celebration by posting your favorite ‘monkey photo’ on social media,” adds Chris Madrigal, personal concierge at the resort. “To participate, just tag @tulemarvacationhomes to your image on Instagram, or post a picture to our Facebook wall at facebook.com/tulemar; the winning photo will be featured in Tulemar Vacation Home’s monthly newsletter.”
