The Association of Beach Volleyball Costa Rica (AVPCR) hosted the seventh round of the 2014 Costa Rica National Beach Volleyball Open on May 10 and 11 in Manuel Antonio, a pristine beach recently named among TripAdvisor’s list of “Top 25 Beaches In the World”.
14 pairs of men and 12 women competed, including 2 North Americans. The event began at 9:00 AM both days, and drew a large crowd of Manuel Antonio locals, and visitors alike. The final round of the Open will take place at Punta Leona Beach on May 17 and 18.
“We are thrilled that Manuel Antonio is increasingly becoming a choice destination for these spectacular sporting events,” says Dave Houck, spokesperson for Tulemar. “The Association of Beach Volleyball Costa Rica has done a great job of organizing these tournaments and we’d like to see them, along with other organized sports, continue to grow in this area.”
Tulemar Resort, located right in the heart of Manuel Antonio, is a popular nearby accommodation option for participants who wish to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, while remaining focused on the events taking place. “The resort and its amenities provide not only a place to relax, but competitors can use the Tulemar beach and hiking trails to train in between events if they wish” adds Houck.
We hope to see more events like this one continue to come to the area.
